ECCG Shoots 2017 Competition – 06/06/2017

ECCG’s fourth internal competition of the year was for images taken during any of the Group’s shoots held during 2017. With no other theme to focus the entries, they were indeed varied as can be seen in the competition’s gallery.

While the best picture overall was the brilliant portrait above taken by Noelle Lowney at last weekend’s Innishannon Steam Rally, there were some great battles across the grades as the votes were counted.

When the final tally was recorded the spoils were divided as follows:

In Grade C, Paul Stack took first place with a winning margin of seven points from Miriam Keogh with Andrew Foley taking third.

Noelle Lowney had a very comfortable win in Grade B, a full 68 points ahead of Jim O’Neill in second place while Keith Johnson took the third spot.

Grade A saw the tightest of margins with Denis Barry holding onto a one point lead from Michael Hickey to win the Grade while Kevin Day was only another eight points adrift in third.

In the overall scores, Noelle Lowney had a thirty point cushion in first place with Paul Stack and Miriam Keogh taking second and third places respectively.

Well done to all twenty entrants.

ECCG ‘Silhouette’ Competition – 20/5/14

Silhouette Results-10

Thirty one members attended the third internal competition of the year at the Midleton Park Hotel on Tuesday 20/5/14. The theme was ‘Silhouette’ which had members practically gasping for inspiration when it was first announced a couple of months back but as you can see in the slideshow below, interpretation was diverse among the twenty-three entries received.

Number crunching: Anthony OConnor and Denis Barry by Karen Fleming

Following two viewings of the projected images, scores were awarded, checked and entered into our new results program. 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each Grade and overall, were projected ‘live’ on-screen as the results were recorded which made for a fascinating spectacle as competitors in the top places changed and interchanged as the process developed.  There were some tight battles in some grades and it was great to see some of our newest members feature in the top three of Grade C.

With the final results computed and checked, the winners and runners up were declared and it was no surprise to anyone to see Karen Fleming make it a hat-trick of wins for the year in Grade A. The results were as follows:

Shoot at Cobh – 22/3/14

Michael Hickey-2Three members turned up for the Cobh/Fota photo-shoot. The poor weather forecast probably had an impact on figures. We got some photographs of the cathedral and surroundings from the park before a light shower had us seeking shelter.

Afterwards we took to higher ground to get better shots. Later we tried the heritage centre for coffee and following a good chat decided to call it a day.
