Lightroom goes Mobile!

Adobe today announced Lightroom Mobile which allows the synchronisation of files between the desktop application and your iPad. Images can be edited, on the go, with all edits and changes synced back to the Lightroom catalogue at home.

You'll need to download the Lightroom Mobile app from the Apple app store to your iPad and then download the latest version of Lightroom which is an update for Lightroom 5. Both the app and the update are free. You'll also need to set up an Adobe ID to sign in if you don't already have one. Then you sign in using the ID on the app and also on the desktop to allow both to sync with each other.

Adobe's design evangelist, Terry White gives an initial preview here:

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Workshop

lightroom-workshopWith the recent run of poor weather, which has led to the cancellation of a number of shoots, it was decided a safer bet to remain indoors this weekend for our second workshop of the year.

And so we headed to the comfort of the Midleton Park Hotel where our chairman Denis Barry presented a 3 hour workshop covering the basics of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, the industry standard software for organising, enhancing and sharing images.

Eight ECCG members were treated to a walk through of the basics from file import including tethered shooting through to image enhancement, geotagging, creating a photo book, printing and producing a slideshow and web gallery.

Thanks to Denis for a very educational morning.

Adobe launch Photoshop Photography Program

As they announced that subscriptions to Creative Cloud have surpassed 1,000,000, Adobe launched their recently promised Photoshop Photography Program, which is only available from 17/9/13 to 31/12/13, for €12.29 incl VAT. The Adobe website carried the following message on the subject:

"For a limited time, you can join a special Creative Cloud plan designed exclusively for Photoshop customers focused on photography. It includes access to Photoshop Creative Cloud and Lightroom 5, plus feature updates and upgrades as they are available, 20GB of cloud storage for file sharing and collaboration, and a Behance ProSite. And it's just €12,29/month when you sign up for a one-year plan. This is not an introductory price, but you need to join by December 31, 2013. To qualify, you must own Photoshop CS3 or later (Standard or Extended version). Questions? See our FAQ and terms".

Is this a good offer? Is it a good fit for photographers? Let us know what you think.
