Ballyvodock Point to Point Shoot – 31/01/2016

Ballyvodock p2p 2016 JCurtin-4

For the second year the p2p bandwagon rolled on to the course located at Ballyvodock, Carrigtwohill for the United Hunt p2p. This race meeting is considered to be one of premier meetings on the southern circuit and was the venue for the last of the January 2016 ECCG shoots.

The course is a left handed galloping track with 6 races being run on the day covering two and half circuits over 9 furlongs distance per race, with a slight up-hill finish.  On the whole, the event was well supported and attracted a huge crowd from the local area.

Once again this event enjoyed favourable weather conditions – cloudy skies but no rain – and while it was cold, the exciting races warmed up punters and non punters alike. ECCG members were treated to some exciting photo opportunities not being deterred by the cold element and mucky conditions. Some exciting images were captured from the parade ring and track on the day from all angles, to say the least, with some members braving taking shots from the ground level!

Lisgoold Point to Point Shoot 4/1/2015

John Tait-6

The first ECCG shoot of 2015 was at the Lisgoold P2P track in Templenacarriga for the United Hunt’s, New Year fixture on Jan 4th 2015. The galloping right handed track situated on a massive 89 acres saw six races over the event that day run over 2 and half circuits with an approximate distance of 3 miles and an average of 10 horses competing per race. The last race of the day saw 18 horses compete.

The teeming rain, drenching mist and drizzle coupled with mucky and muddy field conditions did not deter the ECCG members from attending to shoot at this P2P event. All were suitably attired in raingear and wellingtons to brave the cloudy and wet conditions in order to capture challenging equine sporting images. Some races were a little eventful with some horses falling at and over the fences but, fortunately, none of them were injured that day. Some great images were captured including the jockeys and horses in the parading area and jumping over the second and last fences at the track.

Despite the wet weather conditions the shoot proved to be a worthwhile venture.

Lisgoold Point to Point – 5/1/14

While the ECCG shoot at Lisgoold Point to Point on Sunday 5/1/14 was cancelled due to the atrocious weather conditions, one member of the group wasn’t as easily deterred.

Denis O’Flynn, never one to let a sporting occasion pass without aiming his cameras at it, braved the elements and came away with some images. Check them out below:
