Glenbower Wood Shoot – 19/4/14

Twelve members turned out for our group shoot to Glenbower Woods in Killeagh yesterday. We were hoping to see some wildlife but didn’t expect the show to start at our meeting point at The Midleton Park Hotel.

When we arrived at 8am we were met by a duck and twelve ducklings waddling out of the hotel car park and heading for the river. While en route, two of the youngsters fell through a gap in the pavement into a four-foot deep manhole. A shovel was quickly produced, the manhole opened and the two ducklings rescued, all under the watchful gaze of mother duck and the other ten siblings who quacked with delight when they were reunited.

We regrouped at Glenbower car park with the remainder of the group, took the mandatory group shot and set out through the woods. There was plenty of subject matter on display from the flowers and foliage to the stone bridge and river which meanders its way through the woods. A red squirrel was spotted but was unwilling to pose for a portrait while some members got creative with some panning shots.

All-in-all, an eventful morning and a great location.
