The Midleton Food and Drink festival 2016 celebrated culinary excellence during the period Sept 4th to the 11th. The festival has been running for almost 15 years  and brought a range of culinary excellence to Midleton showcasing the incredible food offerings from well know local food producers in the region. An array of colour ful stands with a taste of authentic and locally produced food dominated the main street of Midleton on Saturday the biggest and busiest day of the festival. This year and every year since the festival commenced has attracted food enthusiasts from local areas and afar sampling the food and drink delights of the event. Musicians and bands entertained the crowds adding to the fun of the festival.

A number of daily events during the festival period were arranged including Demo food Theatres by local chef personalities, Whiskey Talks and tastings at the Midleton Distillery and special demonstration on the art of barrell making by Master Cooper Ger Buckley in his unique workshop at the distillery.

ECCG was also on hand on the Saturday with a stand displaying a variety of images from ECCG's finest!  The weather was mixed with sun in the morning changing to rain in the early afternoon but this not prevent ECCG members from capturing a flavour of images of events on the day.

Midleton Food & Drink Festival – 12/09/15

Following one of the wettest days of the year, Saturday 12/09/15 dawned with beautiful sunshine as traders and exhibitors began to put their stands together on Main Street, Midleton for the annual Food and Drink Festival's main event. A scene of intense activity for a couple of hours, everything was ready for the day ahead shortly after 9am as the first of the crowds began to trickle through.

ECCG set up our stand on the 'sunny side' of the street just above Church lane with our 22-image, 2014 Photographer of the Year Exhibition as our main feature. Steady interest was evident from the start and we were delighted to meet and chat to photographers and those with an appreciation of photography, from Ireland and abroad throughout the day.

The festival itself was a riot of colour and activities with music and street entertainment providing the backdrop and feel-good factor to the culinary theme. ECCG members took some time to sample the atmosphere and grab some photos of the event and a full gallery of images can be seen here. Enjoy!

Midleton Food and Drink Festival 2014

The 2014 Irish Distillers Midleton Food & Drink Festival was held in the town centre on Saturday 13th September and East Cork Camera Group were there once again to cover the event and display our photography.

Blessed again with a beautiful day, Main St was alive well before 7am as stalls were erected between the Gooses' Acre and Broderick St. and food put on to cook. Then, as 9am passed, the street appeared to be ready for business as the first of the many thousands who visited during the day began to arrive, no doubt drawn by the variety of culinary smells wafting about in the air.

As the day unfolded the record crowds enjoyed the good food and drink, music, entertainment and fashion show as they strolled the length of the town while down at The Jameson Experience, Master Distiller, Barry Crockett, who has just retired after 47 years of whiskey making in the town, hosted a tasting presentation of some of the premium whiskeys made in Midleton. A vintage fayre was also in full swing and the craft sector was also well represented.

With a carnival atmosphere in Connolly Street along with stilt-walkers and face-painters, the kids were well catered for while the Midleton Brass Band lead the musical entertainment.

Congratulations to the organisers on another successful Food and Drink Festival and roll on 2015!. Mouse over the images below to activate the slideshows and get a flavour of the day through the images captured by the members of East Cork Camera Group. Enjoy!
